A moment….. for a life.

We are humbled to be a part of an effort to assist our brethren in our time of need and sincerely grateful for all those who’ve taken a moment to empathise and contribute towards easing the unfathomable hardships faced by those displaced in Vavuniya and Mannar [and else where throughout the country].

A moment of your attention to the crisis and a donation to this cause just might help save a life.

In view of the mounting number of civilians seeking refuge in Vavuniya and Mannar, the Foundation for Co-Existence (FCE) has launched an initiative to collect essential items including medicines. Donations in cash help us immensely to make precise purchases that match the requests from the North East.

We will be working closely with the Ministry of Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services who’s taking the lead in coordinating the distribution process along with the Government Agent of Vavuniya.

FCE through the district offices and staff maintain regular contact with the Government Agents office, Director of Health Services and other principle stakeholders to ascertain ‘gaps’ [pressing needs] in the backdrop of many similar relief operations being conducted by concerned parties.

Our appeals target these ‘gaps’ and we dispatch consignments targeting these specific needs to Vavuniya, Mannar and Trincomalee once every two weeks. Logistical assistance for this intervention is provided by the International Organization for Migration under their Emergency Response Programme.

In keeping up with varying needs, the appeals will be revised bi-weekly
